Philosophy of Physical Education
It is our philosophy that we provide a quality physical education program through instruction and assessment that best serves the needs of all our students.  While contributing in significant ways to the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the students, the program's main focus is on the physical development of each student.

Physical Education at Ben Franklin should provide each student with:
1.  A sequence of developmentally appropriate locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills in selected activities and sports.
2.  An emphasis in fundamental skills and lifetime activities which will carry over to their future.
3.  Opportunities to evaluate their fitness level, set goals, and identify ways to improve and monitor their progress.
4.  The knowledge to develop lifelong understanding of good habits for overall health and fitness.
5.  Activities that require leadership, sportsmanship, cooperation, decision-making, teamwork, and self-discipline.
6.  An environment that is physically and emotionally safe.
